Internal Medicine Physicians Say President’s Budget Would Significantly Degrade U.S. Health Care and Public Health

WASHINGTON, May 5, 2025—The American College of Physicians is alarmed about the major cuts to health care funding in the proposed budget released by President Trump. If approved as is by Congress, the budget would seriously degrade our country’s health care and public health systems in virtually every way. The proposed budget would cut more than a quarter of total funding for the Department of Health and Human Services, the department’s agencies, and the programs and services they provide to the American people. It would slash funding for chronic disease prevention, for substance abuse and mental health services, and money meant to help improve the quality of health care for Americans. This budget would leave our country ill-prepared to respond to any public health emergencies and it would cut programs that help to alleviate health care workforce shortages. 바카라 사리트 supports making government, health care and public health services more effective and efficient, but these types of drastic cuts are not the way to achieve these goals. It is imperative that these cuts be stopped, the budget cannot be approved as proposed. Instead of these sweeping cuts, the administration and Congress should both be focused on ways that they could better support the health and well-being of all Americans. We will not be able to meet the goal of a healthy America without sufficient funding for federal health programs or adequate public health infrastructure.
