Philadelphia, November 28, 2018 -- The American College of Physicians (바카라 사리트) has named Tabassum Salam, MD, F바카라 사리트, as the organization’s Vice President for Medical Education, effective December 3, 2018.
바카라 사리트 made the selection after a national search for the largest medical specialty organization in the United States. Dr. Salam succeeds Sean McKinney, who retired in June.
“Dr. Salam is an accomplished and well-respected medical educator and has held leadership positions in continuing medical education and graduate medical education,” said Darilyn Moyer, MD, F바카라 사리트, 바카라 사리트’s Executive Vice President and CEO.
Dr. Salam will be responsible for designing and implementing clinical education initiatives, representing 바카라 사리트 through external collaborations with medical education organizations, and advancing 바카라 사리트’s medical education services through business and program management.
Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Salam joins 바카라 사리트 from Christiana Care Health System in Delaware, where she practices general internal medicine and was Medical Director of Population Health, Utilization Management and Patient and Family Health Education.
Dr. Salam has practiced in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings and educated resident physicians and medical students. Her areas of professional interest and expertise include population health, continuing medical education, and inter-professional education.
Dr. Salam has been a Fellow of 바카라 사리트 (F바카라 사리트) since 2007. F바카라 사리트 is an honorary designation that recognizes ongoing individual service and contributions to the practice of medicine. She has been an active member of 바카라 사리트, having volunteered as Governor of the organization’s Delaware chapter and served on 바카라 사리트’s International Council, Disparities Project Advisory Group, Resident Services Committee, and Quality Improvement Learning Collaborative Task Force.
Dr. Salam received her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biology from Bryn Mawr College and her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her internal medicine residency at Medical College of Pennsylvania-Hahnemann University. Dr. Salam is currently completing her MBA degree at Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania.
